Elemental Water Fishing

I grabbed the map for Elemental Water and made it local.

Fish Story

Check out the whopper I pulled in the other day in Azshara.

Fishing for Elemental Water in Azshara

Thalen's page has a nice writeup on fishing for Elemental Water in Azshara. Although I haven't seen any the screenshots look pretty convincing.

More fishing competition advice...

Here is some more advice on the fishing competition from thottbot.

I've won the competition once and barely missed winning twice, so I think I have a pretty good handle on it.

1. Try to build up your fishing skill to 200+. You'll need 300 skill to wield the prize fishing pole if you win it. Time spent applying lures is time when you aren't catching fish. Also equip your best fishing gear for added pluses.

Fishing Competition Information

Here is some good dinformation on the fishing competition (from thottbot post). I competed Sunday for the first time. I didn't even come close to winning. I had like 25 when it was over. Took about 30 minutes. I did catch the rare "racer" and turned it in for some Extreme Anglin Boots (fishing +5).

Show up in Booty Bay a little before 2:00 p.m. server time on a Sunday. There are 3 questgivers just north of the inn who are only there from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Talk to them to get the contest rules. If you're serious about trying to win the competition, you will also want to set your hearthstone to the Booty Bay inn.

Forgotten Coast Wreckage Fishing

Just found out that fishing "Floating Wreckage" can be fairly profittable. Here is my haul so far... It seems that each floating wreckage can have at least 1 mithril bound trunk. I did get 3 from one pile. The marked schools of fish are a great upgrade to fishing. And the wreckage makes fishing a viable profession again. Spawn locations for the wreckage are fairly sparese, almost rare. I ran up and down the coast 4-5 times and only saw the 3 piles. Too bad word is out!

STV Fishing trip

After hitting 60 I decided to take a vacation and spend some time fishing in Straglethorn Vale. I managed to get my skill up to 300 in the process. I am now at 300 in fishing, cooking and firstaid. Here is a shot in my new vacation clothes.

Barrens Fishing Trip

I ran over to the Barrens (Lushwater Oasis) for a fishing trip today to see how long it would take to get a stack of Deviate fish, since I recently got the recipe.

My skill was at 241 (with gear) when I got there and 248 when I left. It was a litttle after 4pm server time. Here is what I ended up with.

20 Deviate Fish
18 Mud Snappers
11 Catfish
5 Smallfish

Not too bad. 20/54 puts it at around 37% which is about what Thottbot said. Now, how much can I sell it all for...

Alliance Cooking and Fishing guide

Stop at any local cook to train basic cooking. Then take a flight to Ironforge. Run out to Khranos and buy a flint and some wood. You will need this if you plan on raising the skill as you go... (to make a cooking fire). Run out to Iceflow Lake and on the dock you can buy the recipe for small brilliant fish. You might also need a pole and some baubles here if you don't have them already. Then head to the open spot in the water where you can fish. You can also train fishing here if you need to. I raised fishing and cooking up to 50 right here without even moving. Make sure to train fishing once you reach 50 before you leave.

Feralas fishing trip

Just did a short fishing trip around Feralas. Fished about 30 minutes using bright baubles and a big iron pole. Skill is currently at 215 and it was about 6pm server time.

I came up with about 5 big clams 1 of which had a golden pearl. The rest of the haul consisted of 14 sunscale salmon, 7 redgill, 4 summer bass, 2 lightning eels, 2 stonescale eels, 4 glossy mightfish and a couple each of the blackmouths and firefins.

Pets and food

Well, I figured out a good way to keep my pet fed. I guess this will be a long learning experience but fishing is a great way to get food for a pet (a meat eater anyway). My first pet was a panther from the newboe area. It ate meat/fish. I had the worst time keeping it fed until I took up fishing. Not only is it a good way to feed them but you can usually buy fish from the fishing vendor.

I will keep my pet-food experiences up to date and maybe create a page or chart to map them out.
